What this site is

Tractor & Heavy Equipment Guide publishes reference material about tractors and heavy equipment. It is an independent publication. It is not a manufacturer, dealer, distributor, repair service, licensing body, government agency or standards organization, and it is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by any equipment brand named on it.

Manufacturer and brand names are used solely to identify the equipment being discussed. All trademarks belong to their respective owners.

Reference, not advice

The material here is general reference. It is not engineering advice, legal advice, safety certification or a substitute for your machine's operator manual, a qualified technician, or the authority with jurisdiction over your route or worksite.

Calculators

The calculators are planning tools. They implement the formula and assumptions stated on their own pages and nothing more. They do not know your machine's ratings, its condition, the ground you are working on, or the load you are carrying.

A result from a calculator here never overrides a rating on a plate, a figure in a manual, or a limit in a regulation. Follow all applicable legal requirements and the actual equipment limits. If references conflict, stop and resolve the discrepancy with the responsible manufacturer, qualified professional or authority; a plate does not override a regulation.

Use of this site

You may read, print and share these pages, and quote from them with attribution and a link. You may not republish substantial portions as your own, present the material as coming from a manufacturer or authority, or use automated means to extract the content wholesale.

Standards documents referenced here are the property of the bodies that publish them. Dimensions and requirements are reproduced for reference; the standards themselves are available from those bodies.

The site is provided as it is, without a guarantee that it will be available, complete or free of error. We correct errors when we find them or when they are reported.
