CASE 850E to 1150G specifications

The 850E, 850L and 1150G require different service references

The 850L in this comparison has a hydrostatic driveline. Its forward/reverse ratio selector is not evidence of the discrete gear counts printed in the earlier secondary record. The 850E parts book instead identifies a torque converter, range shift, clutch shafts and a transmission modulator valve. Diagnose the fitted driveline before applying another generation's repair account.

850L track letters change the fitted blade and footprint

The 2008 specification distinguishes XLT, WT and LGP tracks, and offers more than one blade width within a track configuration. Its published ground pressures belong to those combinations. A wider blade is therefore not enough to identify an LGP machine.

The same sheet separates standard lubricated track from optional extended-life chain. The chain option changes the published speed and drawbar relationship. An undercarriage inspection should identify the chain as well as shoe width before the catalogue performance is applied.

The 850L's decelerator includes hydrostatic retardation. Its blade lever separately controls lift, angle and tilt. A travel-control complaint and a blade-control complaint concern different listed systems, even when both are described casually as a hydraulic problem.

The 850E catalogue separates transmission oil from equipment oil

The original parts index lists a transmission suction line, transmission cooling circuit and transmission filter. Equipment hydraulics have their own reservoir, pump and control-valve entries. A filter ordered only as an 850E hydraulic filter leaves the intended circuit ambiguous.

The catalogue also combines dozer and loader equipment. Its loader lift and bucket circuits do not establish what is installed on the crawler dozer here. Use the dozer angle, lift and tilt entries when identifying blade components; match the individual part and machine identification before ordering.

The 1150G operator book has an important engine-identity split

The June 1997 revision of operator book 9-25682 separates engine lubrication and air-cleaner instructions by product identification number. JJG0218023 is grouped with JJG0218475 and later machines. The intervening JJG0218024 through JJG0218474 group is covered with the earlier machines.

A simple before/after assumption would miss that exception.

The book's identification record includes engine, transmission and dozer-blade serial numbers as well as the crawler PIN. Record those component numbers when the unit's equipment history is uncertain. Its contents also separates towing a disabled crawler from normal operation; the travel-speed table is not a towing procedure.
