CX235C SR LC: choose an arm before comparing capacity

CASE's March 2015 long-undercarriage sheet describes a short-radius machine with an Isuzu AM-4HK1X engine. The rear envelope is compact, but the two front arrangements have different digging and lifting limits. The short arm gives greater arm digging force; the long arm reaches deeper and farther.

Neither arrangement turns the machine into a zero-swing excavator. Tail clearance remains necessary when slewing beside a wall.

The operating-weight definition includes the bucket, counterweight, operator and fuel. CASE also prints bucket weights with its individual lift charts, so a headline machine weight is insufficient to select a lifting cell. Over-end and over-side columns can diverge at the same radius and height.

Asterisks identify loads limited hydraulically; unstarred cells can be constrained by stability. Use the chart matching the arm and lifting equipment, and account for attachment weight before suspending a load.

Three work selections and four economy controls

SP means Speed Priority, H means Heavy Duty, and A means Automatic in the original control schedule. The fuel-economy features have separate names: Boom Economy Control, Auto Economy Control, Swing Relief Control and Spool Stroke Control. A machine in an economy setting is not necessarily developing a hydraulic defect.

Check the selected mode and the commanded motion before comparing it with a digging-force claim.

The implement and travel pressure settings also differ from the swing circuit's setting. Auto power boost has its own higher pressure. Main-pump flow comes from paired variable-displacement axial-piston pumps; the pilot circuit uses a separate gear pump.

Adding pilot flow to an attachment-flow expectation confuses the control supply with the working supply.

Identify the installed auxiliary equipment

The standard sheet includes auxiliary valve provisions, pipe brackets and pre-set auxiliary pump settings. It lists single-acting, double-acting, multifunction and secondary low-flow arrangements as options. Brackets alone do not prove that an excavator has every tool circuit.

The same distinction applies to load-holding equipment, hose-burst check valves and the free-swing service kit. Inspect the fitted plumbing and controls against the intended attachment.

The Tier 4 Interim arrangement uses cooled EGR and a DPD system. Its service requirements name ultra-low-sulfur fuel and low-ash CJ-4 engine oil. Hydraulic reservoir capacity is separate from the complete system quantity, and each final drive has its own refill.

These compartment labels matter more than an unspecific list headed fluid capacity.
