302.5C: long-stick reach is not digging depth

Caterpillar's AEHQ5674-02 drawing assigns a separate dimension to digging depth, ground reach and overall horizontal reach. A reach figure copied into a depth field makes this compact excavator appear to dig much deeper than it can. The long stick reaches farther than the standard stick, but its stick digging force is lower.

Bucket digging force stays the same. Select the arm for the trench geometry and the material being excavated, instead of treating the longest dimension as a universal advantage.

The lift chart is specifically for the standard stick. It separates front and side lifting, and it shows blade-up and blade-down ratings at the same radius. At ground level with the blade raised, the side limit is lower than the front limit.

The bucket's weight is excluded from the chart, so a bucket or coupler fitted to the machine consumes part of the available lifted load. Long-stick digging figures do not authorize use of that standard-stick chart unchanged.

Tool plumbing and the blade's floating position

Cat supplies auxiliary lines for both one-way hammer operation and two-way auger operation. The main auxiliary circuit and secondary circuit have different available flow. A primary-flow figure cannot be promised at the smaller secondary connection.

The dated equipment list also distinguishes the standard joystick on/off auxiliary switch from optional proportional control. A photograph of hoses does not establish proportional operation.

The dozer blade has a float function for finishing and site cleanup. That setting lets the blade follow the ground; it is a different task from using the blade as support for a lift. Two-speed travel control sits on the dozer lever.

Boom swing and auxiliary functions are moved onto the levers, reducing the number of floor controls the operator needs to find.

Canopy weight and cab weight describe different machines

The published weights include rubber tracks, bucket, operator, full fuel and auxiliary lines, with a separate higher figure for the cab. Steel tracks, a coupler or another tool change that transport calculation. The rear swing-out doors expose the engine checks, while a lifting side cover accesses the implement valve and hydraulic tank.

A sight gauge serves the hydraulic level check; the sampling valve provides a separate way to obtain a fluid sample.

The Mitsubishi S3L2 naturally aspirated diesel has different net and gross ratings. Cat specifies automatic idle and a scheduled engine-oil and filter interval, but that interval is not a statement that every compartment uses the same oil or quantity. Tank volume and complete hydraulic-system volume remain separate service entries.
