- TL D Series telehandlers. Caterpillar's brochure for its TL D Series telehandlers lists the TL642D at a lift height of 12.8 m (42 ft) with a rated load of 2,948 kg (6,500 lb) and the TL943D at 13.1 m (43 ft) with 4,082 kg (9,000 lb), and says the range reflects over 25 years of Cat telehandler progress. - Servicing. The brochure says servicing is simple thanks to ground-level access to service points, vertical-mounted filters and a side-mounted engine, and that high ground clearance and durable components help the machines handle tough conditions. - Attachments and carriages. Check the lifting-hook chart revision on early TL642 and TL943 machines
JLG’s service letter CAT0902, dated April 1, 2009, documents a lifting-hook chart correction for certain Cat telehandlers it manufactured. It identifies TL642 serials TBK00100–TBK01087 and TL943 serials TBL00100–TBL01463. The original hook chart showed a 2,000 lb limit below the attachment’s allowable capacity, and the letter supplied model-specific replacement chart references.
The replacement selection depends on whether outriggers are fitted and on the chart’s measurement system. That is a reason to verify the installed attachment chart and its revision, not to increase a load based on a general internet specification. A fork chart or a chart for the stabilizer-equipped TL943 does not establish the lifting-hook rating on a different support arrangement.
The service program’s stated termination date was October 1, 2009; the letter is historical evidence of the correction, not a current offer of covered work. For an early machine, ask for the applicable current chart and the record of any replacement before relying on its hook attachment.
