John Deere 544GTC: forks, material-handling arm and ballast

544G TC fork ratings depend on tine length and steering angle

Deere's G-Series technical sheet gives the tool carrier its own coupler-and-forks table. Tipping load is listed with the fork level and the load centered on the tine. Longer tines move that stated load position outward.

Their columns consequently show different tipping loads even though maximum fork reach is unchanged.

The table separates a straight machine from a full turn. Use the articulated column when assessing a route that involves turning with the load; the larger straight tipping figure does not describe that maneuver. Tipping load is also distinct from an approved operating-load rating.

Do not label the fork table's tipping entry as a pallet payload.

The material-handling arm has a different load chart

Deere supplies another table for the coupler and material-handling arm. Retracted, middle and extended positions each have their own operating-load entry, while the overall operating weight remains the same across those positions. The changing capacity comes from the arm configuration, not a change in the loader's listed mass.

Its middle-position operating-load figure is slightly higher than the retracted entry, and the extended value is lower. Follow those actual position columns instead of assuming capacity changes uniformly with reach. The separate straight and full-turn tipping rows provide further context; none replaces the position-specific operating-load row.

Counterweight and tire ballast are part of the TC specification

The tool-carrier bucket table is based on its stated tires, rear counterweights, cab, operator and full fuel. Deere then provides adjustments for tire sizes, liquid ballast, a canopy in place of the cab and removal of rear counterweights. Those changes have separate effects on operating weight, bucket tipping load and fork tipping load.

One footnote expressly prohibits the optional counterweight when calcium-chloride tire ballast is used. Adding both entries from different rows would ignore that qualification. Check the installed ballast arrangement before using the adjustment table to compare a used machine with the brochure's base configuration.

The bucket guide also plots capacity against loose material density. A large-volume bucket suitable for a lighter material does not establish the same suitability for a denser one. Identify the bucket assembly, material and tire/counterweight basis together.

PC2364 separates the TC from the loader and log-loader variants

The original parts catalogue names 544G and 624G loaders, the 544G TC Tool Carrier and the 544G LL Log Loader on its cover. Sharing that catalogue does not make every illustrated attachment common to all four. Keep the TC designation, machine serial and relevant parts illustration together when ordering coupler or front-equipment components.

Deere also warns that part numbers can change after publication. An old catalogue identifies the illustrated arrangement; current replacement identification still needs the applicable machine information. A seller's generic “544G part” description omits that distinction.
