John Deere 744E to 744H MH specifications
744E: the power rating changes with the drive setting
The 744E's 6101AT is a dual-horsepower engine. Deere gives separate power and torque entries for its lower and higher settings, so the headline rating does not describe every gear condition. The old brochure's two printed gear ranges overlap at second gear; that ambiguity needs the serial-specific manual, not a guessed boundary.
Its loader and steering pumps are an open-center gear arrangement. Deere separates floating the loader down from powering it down; the two lowering times are different. Its bucket-weight schedule also assumes optional counterweight and a specified tire package.
The smaller tire named in the earlier comparison therefore cannot establish the equipment used for that published bucket weight.

The H generation's PowerTech 6125A uses a lower first-gear power setting and a higher setting in the remaining forward gears. Deere's control description adds individual electronic clutch control, a quick-shift button and selectable automatic-shift sequences. Those are useful inspection points when a seller describes an intermittent shift problem.
They do not identify its cause.
The archived H sheet includes log-fork data. Fork level and fork rolled back have different lift and tipping entries. Neither is interchangeable with the bucket's breakout force.
High-lift boom equipment appears separately in the option list, so the standard log-fork drawing cannot verify the high-lift column's clearance. Check the attachment and boom together.

The MH material-handling schedule distinguishes its wider material bucket from the narrower stockpiling bucket. Their struck capacities and tipping loads differ even though both fit the same loader. A bucket selected for loose material should not be priced or assessed as though it were the other attachment.
The earlier MH reach entry used the horizontal reach at a lower clearance, not the reach with the boom fully raised. Deere prints both measurements and a special dump-angle footnote for the material-handling bucket. Use the measurement that matches the truck side and the actual bucket angle.
The straight tipping figure also exceeds the fully articulated figure; it is not a universal load allowance during a turn. Deere's selection chart requires tire and ballast adjustments before sizing the bucket for material density.
