DX300MH-5: the handler front, riser and hydraulic circuits

The DX300MH-5 is a factory material handler with a straight boom, droop-nose arm and hydraulics ready to open, close and rotate a grapple. It is not the DX300 log-loader front. Doosan describes a fixed cab riser with hydraulic tilt for transport; an elevating riser is a different option.

A cab that tilts down for shipping is not proof of height adjustment while working. The arm shape provides clearance into containers and railcars, which is a different concern from a digging bucket's crowd force.

Power mode and lifting work mode are separate choices. Doosan's lifting setting increases pump torque while reducing engine speed and applying an automatic boost. The four power settings govern another operating choice; selecting the strongest setting alone does not establish the correct lifting mode.

The engine's emissions equipment includes cooled exhaust recirculation, an oxidation catalyst and SCR. Retain the DEF system in a service comparison. The cooling arrangement also separates engine-coolant and hydraulic-oil duties, so an engine-temperature observation alone cannot describe the oil cooler's performance.

The D-1023 technical schedule identifies the engine as Scania DC09 and distinguishes gross output from net output. Its main-pump capacity is given for two pumps, while the pilot pump has a separate line. The earlier single flow figure should not be read as their combined output.

Likewise, the undercarriage's two upper rollers are not two track shoes: the shoe count is a different row. The corrections retain each earlier value and its proper measurement scope.

Working-range labels need equal care. Maximum pin height, loading height and ground-level reach are separate coordinates in the brochure. Reach somewhere in the envelope does not mean reach at ground level.

The hydraulic reservoir is also smaller than the complete hydraulic-system refill quantity. Finally, generator equipment changes the idle controls: Doosan disables auto idle and auto shutdown when a generator is installed. Test that configuration on its own terms.

Normal idle behaviour on a grapple machine is not evidence of a defect on a magnet-equipped example.
