History and service record of 753Z and 803

  • Compact excavator maker. Gehl's product lines include skid steer loaders, track loaders, articulated loaders, asphalt pavers, compact excavators and telescopic handlers, made from its West Bend, Wisconsin, campus; Manitou Group bought the company in September 2008. Gehl Company, Wikipedia.
  • Design. The Gehl zero-tail-swing 503Z and 753Z and short-tail-swing 603 and 803 excavators have larger operator compartments than the models they replaced, with Yanmar Tier II diesels of 47 to 69 gross hp. Gehl 503Z, Construction Equipment.
  • Gehl and Manitou. Gehl was founded by Louis Lucas in 1859; in September 2008 it agreed to be acquired for $30 a share, about $450 million, by its largest shareholder Manitou BF, and is now a Manitou Group brand. Manitou buys Gehl, Vertikal.net; Gehl Company, Wikipedia.
