DX145 versus DX175 and DX195L: match the engine and filter circuit

UFI's 83.069.00 application sheet separates the DX145's FIAT 8065T engine identification from the FIAT 8365T entries for the DX175 and DX195L. The larger pair sharing an engine designation does not make the DX145's engine-service parts interchangeable with theirs. Record the engine plate as well as the dozer model when preparing a parts enquiry.

The same sheet lists a wire-mesh element and cross-references FIAT 79072681, New Holland 79072681 and Donaldson P171530. The overlapping part number helps explain why a Fiat-Hitachi dozer's component may appear under another corporate name. It is a component cross-reference, rather than proof that all hydraulic or transmission parts transfer between the three dozers.

UFI gives the element's physical dimensions separately from the shipping-box dimensions. Compare the actual element and housing identification, not the package size, when checking a supplied part. A similar-looking container cannot establish the filter circuit or correct installed element.

A spin-on hydraulic filter is a different reference from that cartridge

Hitachi's Australian parts catalogue lists Donaldson P165338 as a Duramax spin-on hydraulic filter and names DX175/DX195L with the FIAT 8365T engine in its applications. The DX145 needs its own application and installation match. Keep that scope attached to the part instead of applying it to the entire DX group.

The catalogue distinguishes its synthetic media from the wire mesh in UFI's cartridge sheet. It also supplies a threaded connection, gasket dimensions and filter length. Those are identifying features of the assembled spin-on element; they are not specifications for an unthreaded replacement cartridge inside another housing.

Its filtration data use different efficiency bases: the same product has different micron figures at beta 2 and beta 1000. A bare micron number omits that test basis, so it should not be used alone to select an alternative. The catalogue's suggested substitutes also carry different media and efficiency descriptions; appearing beside the original part does not establish an identical specification.

These catalogues help identify the component for a serial-matched enquiry. They do not establish the dozer's oil grade, change interval or a repair diagnosis.
