The ZX50U-3 weight belongs to an arm, cab and counterweight combination

Hitachi’s American brochure separates canopy and cab machines, then separates the standard arm from the longer arm with its extra counterweight. The cab version’s listed weight is therefore consistent with a lighter canopy machine appearing elsewhere under the same model name. Neither figure establishes what an excavator weighs after a different attachment is fitted.

The longer arm changes more than maximum digging depth. Hitachi gives it a larger rear swing radius with the extra counterweight and a different arm breakout force. Compare those columns together when access behind the machine matters.

The pump rating and auxiliary attachment flow are also separate entries. The whole pump figure cannot be substituted for the auxiliary delivery. For lifting, Hitachi’s chart distinguishes an over-front lift with the blade down from an over-side lift, and states that its listed capacities exclude the bucket.

The chart’s fitted equipment and direction matter as much as the model designation.

The Japanese brochure explains the controls and service access

Hitachi’s Japanese ZX50U-3 brochure describes automatic downshifting during high-load travel, followed by a return to high speed when the load eases. A speed change during a turn is therefore part of that system’s described operation; the brochure does not establish the cause of a persistent travel fault.

Its control-pattern selector has an inspection window, allowing the selected pattern to be checked before entering. The raised lock lever disables travel, blade and boom-swing operation as well as the front attachment and upperstructure swing. The engine-start interlock also requires the lever’s locked position.

The floor tilts for access to the swing equipment and starter area, while the brochure says ordinary daily checks do not require tilting it. Split front hoses have a joint on the boom’s back. Those access points help identify which compartment a maintenance request concerns; they do not make a control lock a support for raised equipment.
