PC300LC-7 to PC350LC-8: short tail versus quarry

PC308USLC-3 is the short-tail choice, not a smaller PC350 package

The PC308USLC-3 combines a short counterweight radius with a different engine and front from the conventional-tail PC300LC machines. Its SAA6D107E-1 installation should not be described with the larger SAA6D114E engine figures. Tail clearance is a decisive difference beside traffic or an existing structure.

The width across the shoes is another dimension entirely; neither measurement can replace the other when marking a work zone.

Komatsu's PC308 brochure offers several arms. The long arm reaches farther, but the bucket-combination chart also imposes clearance restrictions around the cab. A quick coupler can increase the chance of a bucket striking it.

Before buying a used attachment, identify the arm, coupler and bucket geometry as a combination. Checking only the pin diameter or the excavator's operating weight misses the restriction that matters during curl-in.

Keep PC300LC-7 markets and PC350LC-8 equipment distinct

The American Power Plus PC300LC-7 brochure describes a mechanically governed engine and high-pressure inline hydraulic filters. Its published weight schedule includes a particular counterweight, bucket and arm. Other regional PC300LC-7 sheets have different weight ranges.

A lower weight in a listing is therefore a reason to identify the configuration, not a reason to copy a single replacement weight across every serial number.

The PC350LC-8 quarry specification strengthens more than the bucket. Komatsu identifies reinforced work equipment, guards and additional counterweight, with particular double-flange rollers on the long undercarriage. A plain PC350-8 weight must not be labelled PC350LC-8: the brochure separates those chassis.

For hauling, obtain the equipped-machine weight with the fitted quarry bucket rather than estimating from engine power.

Power Max is a temporary digging boost. Boom smooth mode addresses a different problem: allowing the boom to rise during gathering or scraping instead of pushing the machine's front upward. Neither description supplies a lifting rating.

Use the load chart for the actual arm and shoes, including its reach, height and direction, when planning a suspended load.

Compare the correct track dimension

The conventional long chassis has separate measurements for track contact length and total track assembly length. The latter includes the ends beyond the contact patch. Using it as contact length distorts a stability or footprint comparison with the PC308.

The corrected rows preserve both dimensions with their labels. Likewise, hydraulic tank refill volume is kept separate from any claim about the oil held throughout pumps, cylinders and lines.
