Kubota KL-Z to ME5700: transmissions and recall checks

KL-Z recall checks for a Japanese-market tractor

A U.S. recall search does not clear a Japanese KL-Z for service. Kubota filed Japanese recall 3050 for certain KL40Z, KL44Z, KL48Z, KL53Z and KL58Z tractors. The notice also names T2200KLZ.

KL37Z is absent from that notice. Applicability follows the model and chassis number, not every tractor carrying similar letters.

Two faults have different implications. Air could collect inside the fuel cooler and enter the fuel line when the machine rocked, making engine speed fall or stopping the engine. Kubota's remedy adds countermeasure parts and changes or adds cable bands.

The second fault concerns the vehicle-speed ECU: after a shuttle reversal, the tractor could move in the opposite direction from the selected direction. Its remedy is revised software. A repaired cooler does not establish that the ECU work was completed.

The campaign began on November 9, 2012, following the previous day's filing. Kubota gives separate chassis ranges for fuel-cooler work and for vehicles needing both remedies. Even a number within a published range can belong to an unaffected vehicle.

Have the seller obtain the actual campaign record; a purchase year is not the manufacturing period printed in the notice.

Dual Shift, U Shift and the H suffix

Kubota's T3838-1920-5 operator manual separates continuously variable Dual Shift from stepped U Shift. These are equipment choices, not interchangeable translations of one transmission. Standard-speed KL40Z and KL44Z U Shift versions provide twenty-four forward selections and sixteen reverse; the H versions use thirty and twenty.

On Dual Shift machines the main lever varies speed continuously, while the range lever changes the available speed band. Kubota requires the tractor stopped and the clutch fully depressed for that range change.

The H designation also matters to road-speed controls. In the high travel range, accelerator linkage controls engine speed and vehicle speed together, with the main lever limiting the requested maximum. PC identifies the half-track arrangement.

Its undercarriage dimensions and contact area cannot be taken from the wheeled model's tire rows. The manual identifies V2203-CR and V2403-CR engines for the relevant KL-Z models; omitting the CR suffix hides the documented fuel-system identity.

A KL loader needs its matching mounting family

Marukyu's Hayabusa chart pairs KL37Z, KL40Z and KL44Z with GKL44ZV2-CP or GKL44ZV2 arrangements. KL48Z, KL53Z and KL58Z instead occupy the GKL58ZV2 columns. The attachment classifications differ between the CP and other loader versions.

Similar horsepower does not establish that their mounts interchange. For loader operation, Kubota's own manual prohibits AD and double-speed turning; its creep-gear guidance also excludes front-loader work. Match the tractor suffix, loader plate and operating instructions before treating a used loader package as complete.
