Kubota M8 and SMZ: hydraulic options and Japanese recalls

M8 implement-pump capacity is not the flow available from every remote

Kubota's M8 brochure separates standard implement-pump delivery, the optional higher-flow pump and the maximum through one electronic rear remote. Buying the larger pump does not make that entire output available through an individual remote. Match the implement's supply arrangement as well as its flow requirement.

The optional Power Beyond provision is intended for an implement controlling its own hydraulic functions. Its supply, load-sense and return connections serve different roles from an ordinary remote valve. Identify the fitted connections before agreeing that a particular drill or other continuously supplied implement can be connected.

The M8 transmission choices also need identification. Semi-Powershift and KVT are separate packages; the published higher road-speed option is associated with a suspended front axle. The presence of a multifunction handle does not identify either option.

Ask for the tractor's build details and photograph its transmission and hydraulic controls.

SMZ955, SMZ875 and SMZ805: check Japanese recall5113

Kubota's March2022 Japanese notice describes two fire risks: sound-absorbing material peeling towards the muffler, and an engine-room harness rubbing against a bracket. The specified remedies differ. The insulation requires inspection and replacement when protective film remains beneath it; the harness work adds protection and a clamp, with repair or replacement if damaged.

The notice includes SMZ955 machines in a stated MZZ serial range, including PC and AT versions. It also lists SMZ875 and SMZ805 ranges. A model badge alone cannot establish inclusion or completion.

Kubota warns that the published ranges include some machines outside the recall, so obtain a serial-specific determination.

Completion marking is split by remedy: the notice locates white marks at different front sides of the cab frame. Ask for the repair record as well as checking those marks. The affected areas are not both easily visible externally.

Recall3552 concerns a missing front-axle circlip

The April2015 MG/SMZ notice concerns omitted circlips, not the later insulation and wiring issues. Kubota describes possible oil leakage and, in the worst case, axle withdrawal that prevents travel. Its remedy checks for the circlip, installs one if absent and replaces damaged axle parts.

This notice adds vehicles to an earlier campaign whose scope was incomplete. Check both campaign identity and serial eligibility when reviewing an imported SMZ's history. A record of the fire-risk work does not establish completion of this separate axle inspection.
