XR4155: choose the driveline before comparing PTO and hydraulics

The XR4100 brochure separates synchronized-shuttle tractors from HST versions. The XR4155's gross engine rating therefore does not settle its available PTO output: the manufacturer gives different PTO ratings for the two transmissions. Match the H or HC designation and the actual transmission before sizing a PTO-driven implement from this comparison.

The larger total hydraulic-flow figure for the HST tractor includes a larger steering-pump contribution. Its implement-pump rating is unchanged. Adding steering flow to loader supply would overstate the flow available to operate the attachment; the separate pump entries are useful here precisely because their totals differ.

Mid PTO is a dealer-installed option in this brochure, despite a speed appearing in the specification table. A listed shaft speed does not establish that the tractor has that shaft. The LL4104 loader's pivot-pin lift and breakout ratings also describe different tests, while the rear-hitch figure is measured at the link ends.

Neither can be substituted for a pallet load at a different distance.

Read the regeneration and PTO indicators as separate controls

The XR4140–XR4155 operator's manual describes normal DPF regeneration as automatic when the engine is warm, soot has accumulated and regeneration has not been inhibited. Its inhibited mode postpones that process for operating conditions where hot exhaust is a fire concern. Continuing to inhibit cleaning can overload the emissions system and reduce power; a loss of output is not, by itself, proof of failed fuel injection.

That manual also distinguishes the PTO engagement switch from the optional AUTO/MANUAL mode switch. With MANUAL selected, depressing the clutch does not stop the shaft. AUTO changes the clutch-related behavior, but it does not replace switching the PTO off before attaching or checking equipment.

Follow the manual's shutdown procedure and keep people clear of the implement.

For a used XR4155 enquiry, record both the transmission suffix and which of these controls is fitted. A description saying only independent PTO leaves out the control mode that determines what happens when the clutch is pressed.
