Vermeer model reference
The historical Trabber/Cohidrex rubber-track catalog, printed page 92, lists the Vermeer CX216, CX218 and CX219Z with 230 × 72 × 45 original track designations. For CX224 it distinguishes an original 300 × 55 × 72 designation from a listed 300 × 52.5N × 74 replacement.
CX excavators: match the installed track system
The different pitch and link-count entries are a useful warning against buying by width alone. A 300 mm width does not settle the internal guide design, pitch, link count, running-gear fit or approval. Match the actual installed system and obtain the supplier’s confirmation for that configuration.
The CX229 and CX234 entries also differ from the smaller CX machines in the catalog. An excavator’s similar appearance or bucket pin size is not evidence that its undercarriage parts interchange.
Keep digging geometry separate from track fit
The model rows list reach and vertical-wall digging depth as different quantities. Select the required trench geometry first, then check the actual boom/arm and tool arrangement; neither a maximum reach nor a track catalog specifies lifting capacity at that reach.
Seven CX configurations in three comparison groups
The CX references here cover CX216, CX218, CX219z, CX224, CX229, CX234 and CX254. The first comparison groups CX216, CX218 and CX219z; the next groups CX224, CX229 and CX234; CX254 has its own specification guide. These are the seven named reference configurations, with two groups containing three entries each.
They describe the CX excavators represented by the linked documents. Vermeer's balers and other product families need their own product documentation; a CX comparison is a specific equipment reference.
RitchieSpecs lists gross power of 18 hp for CX216 and CX218, 14.3 hp for CX219z, 25 hp for CX224 and CX229, 32 hp for CX234, and 52 hp for CX254. The recorded power span is therefore 14.3–52 hp. The 18, 25 and 32 hp entries sit between those endpoints.
CX224 and CX229 share the same quoted power, so their other dimensions and operating figures carry the comparison. Keep the gross-power label when comparing these records with a document that quotes another power measure.
CX216, CX218 and CX219z: access and digging geometry
The CX216 and CX218 entries both name D 1005-E Diesel engines at 18 hp. Their listed widths to the outside of the tracks differ: 3.35 ft for CX216 and 4.27 ft for CX218. The corresponding operating weights are 3,527 lb and 3,858 lb.
This gives a useful access check before comparing their engine figures: record the actual machine's outside width, shoe arrangement and travel route, then match that setup to the reference entry. The shared engine designation establishes which entry to examine; a parts order still needs the installed engine plate and applicable serial range.
CX219z lists a D 722-E Diesel engine at 14.3 hp, with 4.27 ft outside-track width and 4,189 lb operating weight. Its maximum digging-depth entry is 8.24 ft. CX216 lists 7.09 ft and CX218 7.75 ft for that measurement. The power ordering and depth ordering consequently differ in this comparison.
Use the boom/stick and bucket configuration attached to each figure when preparing a digging job. The vertical-wall depth, ground-level reach, loading height and maximum digging depth are separate geometry checks, each named in the model tables.
CX224, CX229 and CX234: compare the matched measurements
CX224 and CX229 both list 25 hp, a 4.83 ft width outside the tracks and 7.75 ft shipping height. Their maximum ground-level reaches are 14.44 ft and 15 ft, and their listed operating weights are 5,622 lb and 6,394 lb. A transport or access comparison therefore needs more than their matching power and width.
Take the specific machine's attachment, fitted shoes and shipping arrangement to the discussion, and compare the recorded weight basis with the actual setup being moved.
CX234 lists 32 hp, 16.02 ft maximum reach along the ground and 10.18 ft maximum digging depth. Its engine identifier is D 1703-E Diesel. The CX224 and CX229 references print V1305-E Diesel and V 1305-E Diesel respectively.
Copy the complete identifier from the engine plate when identifying service parts; the way a reference spaces a code does not establish that every component or installation is interchangeable. The individual configuration records preserve the printed engine and chassis quantities with their source links.
The fuel-capacity entries for CX224, CX229 and CX234 are all 9.6 gal. Their hydraulic quantities differ: CX224 and CX229 list 11.4 gal hydraulic-system fluid capacity and 14.8 gpm pump flow; CX234 lists 16 gal and 17.2 gpm. Tank or system volume describes stored fluid, while gpm describes flow.
Use the appropriate manual's service-fill procedure and fluid specification for the fitted machine. Match an attachment's hydraulic requirements to the relevant circuit and its pressure information, keeping each measurement's label with the figure.
CX254: the larger entry has its own geometry
CX254 lists 52 hp and 11,224 lb operating weight, the highest power and weight entries among these seven reference configurations. Its ground-level reach is 19 ft, maximum digging depth 11.85 ft and maximum loading height 13.16 ft. Those measurements describe different parts of the machine's working envelope. For loading work, compare the required height and reach at the relevant position, then use the applicable lifting information for the actual boom, stick, tool and load arrangement.
The earlier CX254 comparison expresses the same stated power and weight as about 4.6 hp per 1,000 lb: 52 divided by 11,224, multiplied by 1,000 and rounded to one decimal. This is a calculated comparison measure using the two named source inputs. The reach, clearance and capacity information remains necessary when deciding how the configuration meets a particular job.
Record the actual equipment condition and attachments alongside the specification sheet before arranging transport, parts or service.
