Volvo EC140BLC to ECR145CL: undercarriage, circuits and clearance

LCM changes the undercarriage, not just the badge

The EC140B LCM uses heavier undercarriage components and sits higher than the LC. Volvo's original sheet distinguishes their link pitches, roller counts and shoe arrangements. A seller describing an LCM as an LC with wider shoes leaves out those hardware differences.

Check the undercarriage identity before pricing track parts or comparing transport height.

The same sheet separates direct-fit and quick-fit bucket limits, with further columns for arm length and material density. A coupler changes the permitted attachment combination even if the nominal bucket volume remains the same. For a bucket purchase, match the actual arm, counterweight and mounting arrangement instead of taking the largest capacity from the model's range.

The earlier EC140LC's pilot flow is not its main-pump flow

The Cummins-powered EC140 predates the Volvo D4D-powered B machines. Its North American sheet lists two variable main pumps and a separate gear-type pilot pump. An earlier reference placed the small pilot-flow figure under a general hydraulic-flow heading.

That would badly misrepresent the implement circuit. The corrected tables identify the circuits separately, while retaining the old entry in the correction record.

Engine identity also limits which owner account is relevant. A reported fuel cut-off harness problem on a Cummins machine does not establish the same component or diagnosis on a D4D. Read the engine plate before following a repair discussion that uses only “EC140” in its title.

EC160BLC weight needs the fitted counterweight and front

The old 363,763 lb entry is unsupported by Volvo's sheet. Its standard-shoe example uses a stated boom, arm, bucket and counterweight; a heavier counterweight produces another weight schedule. Those are equipped-machine figures, not a universal weight for everything called EC160BLC.

For transport, retain the complete equipment description alongside the selected mass.

The ECR145CL keeps its cab door inside the track width

Volvo's short-radius C machine has a rounded cab and sliding door. Those features help explain its confined-space purpose more clearly than its operating-weight class does. The counterweight still has a swing envelope, so compact dimensions alone do not establish clearance beside an obstruction.

Its brochure offers universal and S6 quick fits, optional hydraulic kits and an optional straight-travel pedal. A coupler, tool circuit and travel-control option answer different needs. Confirm each separately when inspecting a machine intended to dig while traveling or to operate a rotating attachment.

The optional camera is another fitted-equipment question; an LCD monitor alone does not prove the camera is present.
