Identify the IC-35-2D as an industrial carry-deck crane

Broderson's June 2006 IC-35-D engineering specification identifies the IC-35-2D as a self-propelled industrial crane for in-plant lifting and material handling. It has front-wheel drive and rear-wheel steering. The older hydraulic-truck-crane catalogue label does not describe a highway truck chassis, and should not drive a comparison with road-going truck cranes.

The engineering sheet describes independently controlled hydraulic outriggers with holding valves at their cylinders. Its cargo-deck rating also has a placement condition: the load must be centred over or behind the front axle. A sale photograph showing something on the deck does not establish that its placement satisfies that condition.

The front pulling eye has another specific purpose: the document describes attaching the hook block so the main winch can pull near floor level. This is different from the optional auxiliary winch behind the bumper. Inventory the fitted equipment rather than assuming the front eye proves that an additional winch is included.

Check the equipped mass for an indoor move

Broderson's historical axle-load schedule distinguishes a 7,660 lb IC-35-2D base weight from an 8,120 lb typical equipped weight. Its typical-package definition includes an operator, rigid extension and diesel, while excluding a cab for the IC-35. The schedule also separates front and rear axle loads.

A floor or transport assessment needs the applicable package and load distribution, rather than treating the lighter base total as the mass of every machine offered for sale.

Read the support and reeving conditions with the capacity

The technical sheet separates an 8,000 lb maximum on outriggers from a 6,700 lb pick-and-carry maximum. These are different support conditions, not interchangeable ratings. Its chart calls for a two-part load line above 4,000 lb; the hook, block and reeving arrangement therefore belong in a capacity inspection alongside boom radius.

The optional extension also changes the main-boom calculation. The chart specifies a 100 lb deduction when it is stowed on the base boom, and 300 lb when it is in working position while a load is on the main boom. The relevant deduction cannot be selected from extension length alone; its actual position matters.

The same technical sheet distinguishes the standard Nissan H20 gas engine from an optional Cummins A2300 diesel. A shared IC-35-D designation is insufficient to identify fuel equipment or service parts. Confirm the engine plate before applying the gas-engine entries to a diesel-equipped crane.
