Match the 980M lift linkage before using its dimensions
Caterpillar's AEHQ7244-01 drawing separates standard and high-lift arms. It also separates length without a bucket from shipping length with the bucket resting level. The earlier reference reused an unbucketed length as the latter dimension. A transport estimate needs the bucket-equipped drawing for the actual arm and tyre package, not the shorter bare-machine quantity.
The drawing likewise identifies hood height and ROPS height independently. A hood-top dimension cannot describe clearance above the cab. Antenna and beacon heights are separately shown, so even the corrected ROPS measurement is not automatically the highest point on a fully equipped loader.
This brochure describes a monoblock main hydraulic valve with integrated ride control; adding the auxiliary third function requires a separate remote valve. Its parking brake is an external caliper arrangement at the front-axle input, distinct from the enclosed wet service brakes. These component descriptions help interpret an equipment list that says only ride control or brake service.

The 2017 feature sheet lists Production Measurement as an optional on-the-go weighing system. It separately describes the rear camera and optional rear-object detection. A machine with the camera image on its display has not thereby demonstrated either payload weighing or obstacle detection; each function answers a different operating need.
The same sheet identifies a lock-up torque converter with lock-to-lock shifting and dual ride-control accumulators. These explain why the updated M-Series drive and bucket behaviour should not be judged by the older G-Series control arrangement. A similar bucket capacity does not make the transmission or suspension functions equivalent.
Its stated operating weight includes a named general-purpose bucket, full fluids, operator, counterweight and radial tyres. A high-lift loader, alternative bucket or aggregate-handler package needs its own equipment conditions. The aggregate option is limited to the intended loose-material application and manufacturer payload policy; it does not create an unrestricted higher lifting allowance.
Autolube is also identified as optional, with monitoring and diagnostic visibility when fitted. A grease-system claim should be supported by the actual installed system and its records, rather than assumed from the 2017 model description.
