Deere 190DW wheeled excavator: boom choices and outrigger lifting

190D W: choose the boom and stabilizer arrangement first

The 190D W is a wheeled excavator with different working envelopes for its monoblock and two-piece booms. Deere’s D-Series brochure gives the monoblock arrangement more maximum reach, while the articulated boom folds closer to the machine. The latter’s minimum swing radius is 3.00 metres, compared with 3.48 metres for the monoblock.

That difference concerns the front attachment; both versions retain the same published rear-end swing radius. A confined excavation needs both clearances checked.

Deere also separates digging depth from depth over a flat trench bottom. The two-piece boom reaches 5.93 metres at its maximum digging point, but its eight-foot flat-bottom depth is 5.74 metres. Use the working-envelope drawing for the trench shape.

The largest depth in an advert does not establish a level excavation at that depth across the entire bottom.

Four outriggers change the side-lifting comparison

The brochure offers either a front blade with rear outriggers or outriggers at both ends. The front blade handles cleanup and backfill as well as supporting the chassis during digging. Four outriggers can be controlled together or individually to level the machine.

Those alternatives have separate operating weights and lifting charts, so an otherwise similar 190D W should not inherit the capacity of the other stabilizer arrangement.

For the monoblock boom at ground level and a 6.10-metre load radius, the published over-side figure is 4205 kilograms with the blade and rear outriggers down. The corresponding four-outrigger entry is 4965 kilograms. The front entries at that point are the same.

Side support is the meaningful distinction in this comparison, not a change in the engine rating.

The chart includes the specified bucket and arm and assumes firm, uniform ground. Its load includes lifting accessories such as the hook and cables. Match the actual equipment and use the machine’s complete lifting instructions; a larger stabilizer footprint does not resolve unsuitable ground or a different attachment.

Width, auxiliary oil and service access

The dimension drawing gives width over the tires as 2.53 metres, printed as eight feet four inches. Fully extended outriggers make the overall width 3.44 metres; the retracted-outrigger dimension is narrower. The earlier catalogue entry labelled “8.34 inches” cannot describe this chassis.

For access planning, specify whether tires, upperstructure or deployed supports determine the clearance.

Low-flow assist hydraulics are standard, while Deere describes the high-pressure, high-flow auxiliary package as dealer-installed equipment. Monitor-based flow adjustment does not prove that the larger auxiliary package is fitted. Inspect the lines and installation documents before choosing a powered attachment.

For maintenance access, the brochure shows swing-out fuel coolers and air-conditioning condensers, ground-level fresh-air filtration and grouped engine-oil and fuel-water-separator service points. Those are useful places to inspect for blocked cooling surfaces and neglected access hardware.
