John Deere 320G through 332G: controls, engine ratings and PIN scope

G-series control packages differ between frame sizes

In Deere's June 2022 booklet, mechanical foot controls are standard on the 320G and 324G; electrohydraulic ISO joysticks are standard on the 330G and 332G. The smaller machines can have optional EH controls. Identify the installed controls before comparing two advertised G-series loaders.

The EH joystick performance package and EH boom performance package are different options. Joystick functions include creep control, selectable propel response and boom/bucket speed settings. The boom package offered on the larger pair adds functions such as return to dig, return to carry and height kick-out.

Seeing an EH joystick does not prove that all those boom functions were purchased.

Cooling layouts differ too: Deere names V-plenum cooling for the smaller pair and Tri-Cool for the larger pair. The booklet also makes grade indication optional on the 330G and 332G. A displayed slope value is information for the operator, not evidence that every loader has an automatic blade-control installation.

Use the complete PIN when requesting a service section

The 2019 operation-and-test manual covers named 330G and 332G PIN ranges. Deere places the identification plate behind the cab on the machine's right side. Its decoding example separates manufacturing year, engine-emissions level and machine configuration.

For example, the option list distinguishes two-speed EH from two-speed high-flow EH. A machine's year is therefore insufficient to establish its attachment-flow package. Copy the complete PIN and the engine identification when requesting parts or a hydraulic test procedure.

The manual also separates controller groups: dosing, engine, engagement/monitor, hydraulics, joystick and switch-module diagnostics have their own sections. Record the controller prefix with a displayed fault. The bare number can lose part of the identification needed for a diagnostic lookup.

A cold-start account distinguished voltage from DEF temperature

A 332G owner reported low-voltage warnings after a freezing-weather start, followed by a persistent DCU 523630.02 warning. Charging removed the voltage warnings, while warming the machine did not clear the DEF warning. Replies discussed the DEF header's coolant circuit and reading the reported fluid temperature through diagnostic software.

The thread does not document a completed repair. Its useful distinction is the remaining active fault after the initial voltage complaint disappeared. It also shows why an exhaust-mounted sensor should not be selected merely because the warning mentions temperature; the reported complaint concerned DEF thawing.
