Hitachi ZX75US-5 and ZX85USB-5 specifications

ZX85USB-5 boom swing is a working difference

The ZX85USB-5 has a boom that swings to either side; the ZX75US-5 uses a fixed boom. That distinction matters for an offset trench beside an obstruction. Compare the front attachment's path as well as the counterweight clearance.

A short tail does not describe the entire moving envelope.

Hitachi's weight schedules also identify the bucket, arm, counterweight, blade, fuel and operator included in each arrangement. Steel shoes, continuous rubber belts and rubber pads have separate entries. The rubber-pad weights originally appeared against the opposite models here; the corrected rows now follow the manufacturer's model headings.

Fuel capacities were reversed too. The correction register keeps those earlier entries visible.

The 566 psi entry belongs under the pilot pump in the technical layout. Implement pressure has its own higher entry. Multiplying the combined main-pump flow by the pilot relief setting cannot establish usable digging power.

The former 17.5 hp calculation remains labelled as an invalid cross-circuit product. It is not an attachment rating.

Why a generic Yanmar rating is not the excavator rating

Yanmar describes the 4TNV98C as a naturally aspirated, common-rail, direct-injection engine with cooled exhaust-gas recirculation and a particulate filter. Its industrial-engine page gives a gross-output range across different rated speeds. Hitachi instead specifies the installed excavator's net output at its selected engine speed.

The two figures answer different questions. Choosing the top of the engine catalog's range would overstate what Hitachi documents for this installation.

The full engine designation matters when identifying parts: the ZX85USB-5 schedule includes the WHBW suffix. Match that identity with the engine plate before ordering a fuel-system or aftertreatment component. Yanmar's current engine page also describes a newer particulate-filter maintenance claim.

That claim does not establish an interval for an older Hitachi excavator. Use the machine's own operating and maintenance instructions for that decision; a shared engine-family name does not supply the missing maintenance approval.
