Kobelco SK140SRD-5: car dismantling controls and circuits

The SK140SRD-5 is a dismantling system, not a bucket excavator conversion

Kobelco's North American dismantling brochure shows reinforced front structures, a heavier counterweight and frame reinforcement provided at the factory. The boom and arm have holding valves, and guards cover the boom-cylinder rods, swivel area and underside. These features distinguish the SRD from a neighboring SR digging excavator.

Inspect the guards and structural repairs against the dismantling-machine drawings.

The clamp arms hold the vehicle while the rotating nibbler separates components. They move vertically and close from the sides, providing a different restraint from a top-only clamp. Their gripping tools have separate jobs: holding an engine or dashboard, pulling wiring and circuit boards, bending long material and separating engine components.

A functioning open/close command alone has not demonstrated all of those movements.

The brochure's recycling sequence begins with removal of fuel, fluids and refrigerant before parts collection and material separation. The nibbler is not a substitute for that preprocessing. Plan the work area and handling steps around a prepared vehicle, then assess the clamp and tool functions needed for the intended recovery work.

Tool orientation, pressure circuits and after-treatment

Cab-interference prevention uses the boom, arm and idler-link angles to calculate the front attachment's position and direction. The brochure describes the system as standard. Confirm that its sensors, wiring and warning display remain intact after front-end repairs; an ordinary excavator's reach figure does not establish that protection is working.

Nibbler rotation and nibbler opening have different relief settings. Clamp-arm opening and vertical movement are also listed separately from the excavating, swing and pilot circuits. A single general hydraulic-pressure value therefore cannot specify every dismantling function.

The table keeps each circuit's original manufacturer setting identified.

Kobelco distinguishes this SK140SRD's DOC/SCR arrangement from the larger SK210D's SCR/DPF combination. The particulate-accumulation display in the shared monitor illustration is explicitly for the SK210D. Do not diagnose an SRD as having that other model's filter solely from the combined brochure.

The SRD's iNDr cooling-air path also uses offset top ducts around the SCR package and a removable dust filter. Inspect the filter and airflow path when cooling is poor in a dusty recycling yard. The hydraulic tank quantity is smaller than the complete system quantity; the full-system number in an older tank-labelled row is corrected below.
