D41S-3 pump applications need the engine suffix

The D41S-3 is a bucket-equipped crawler loader. Its loader bucket, breakout force and tipping-load entries describe loading work, while its tracked chassis does not make it a blade-equipped D41 dozer. The model's reference listing identifies the loader directly.

Keep that distinction when comparing it with a D41P or ordering front-attachment parts.

KMP's pump catalog lists the D41S-3 against both the 6D105-1M-P and 6D105-1N engine applications. The adjacent D41P-3 entry has a different hydraulic-pump reference. A shared D41 prefix therefore does not establish the right pump.

Read the engine arrangement and existing pump identification together. KMP also separates hydraulic pumps from engine oil, water and transmission pumps in its application schedules; a request for simply “the D41 pump” leaves the component unresolved. Its application listing identifies a candidate replacement, but provides no D41S-3 flow or pressure setting.

A pump number alone cannot establish either working limit.

The filter schedule separates fuel, hydraulic oil and engine oil

Baldwin groups the D41S-3 with the D41A-3, D41P-3 and D41Q-3 when equipped with the specified 6D105-1 engine. Its engine-oil filter differs from the element listed for hydraulic and transmission service. Fuel entries distinguish a normal filter from a version with a drain.

The air cleaner has separate outer and inner elements.

That application grouping is useful for preparing a service order, but it does not identify every machine's installed housing. Read the existing element and housing markings, particularly where the fuel-filter drain arrangement differs. Selecting the correct fuel assembly and its drain provision is a separate decision from choosing the hydraulic element.

One documented reverse-drive complaint

A D41S-3 owner posting in 2008 described usable forward travel but weak reverse, followed by evidence of water contamination in the bevel-gear compartment. The owner also reported rapidly warming transmission oil and poor bucket performance. Those are observations from one machine, not proof of a particular failed part.

A reply's rebuild-price example concerned a D31A-17, so it does not establish the cost of repairing this D41S-3.
