Choose between the WA150-5's attachment drive and the PZ loaders' linkage

The WA150-5, WA200PZ-6 and WA250PZ-6 use hydrostatic travel, but their engine generations, loading linkages and attachment arrangements differ. Start with the task: maintaining hydraulic attachment speed during slow travel is a different requirement from keeping pallet forks level through the lifting arc. Check the installed controls and coupler before comparing bucket volume.

WA150-5: slow travel without sacrificing attachment speed

Komatsu's European WA150-5 brochure describes variable shift control as useful with sweepers and rotary cutters. Travel speed can be adjusted independently of the accelerator position. That distinction matters when an attachment needs engine speed while the loader moves slowly along a kerb or works within a confined yard.

The same brochure lists a four-point quick coupler and a multifunction lever with an integrated direction switch as options. Inspect both. The ordinary fingertip controls and the optional lever are different arrangements; a listing that mentions forward/reverse control does not establish which one is fitted.

Two travel motors do not mean a conventional powershift gearbox

The Japanese-hosted WA150-5 sheet explains the drive path: a hydraulic pump supplies two travel motors, then the transfer case drives the axles mechanically. Both motors contribute when digging or starting. As travel speed rises and torque demand falls, a clutch disconnects the low-speed motor to avoid dragging it.

The inching pedal reduces travel-pump flow while the accelerator can maintain implement flow. Further pedal movement applies the service brakes. During a demonstration, distinguish this intended inching response from a loader that loses bucket speed whenever its travel slows.

WA200PZ-6 and WA250PZ-6: attachment attitude and traction settings

The combined PZ brochure describes parallel movement for buckets and forks, plus a two-mode bucket leveller. Fork handling therefore deserves its own demonstration through the lift arc; a bucket breakout figure alone cannot describe how an attachment stays level.

These PZ loaders also have selectable traction limits. Their S-mode controls low-speed slip during forward travel; the brochure expressly limits that function to the forward direction. The maximum-traction switch temporarily cancels the selected limit, while operating the direction lever restores it.

A change in digging response after reversing can therefore reflect the control setting, without proving a transmission fault.

Finally, the PZ fork schedule separates straight and articulated tipping loads from operating load, and names a load-centre condition. Keep that attachment schedule with the coupler and tyres used for the test. The larger WA250PZ-6 also has a six-cylinder engine, whereas the WA200PZ-6 uses a four-cylinder unit; their similar controls do not establish interchangeable engine parts.
