Separate HST inching from a wheel-brake fault

Komatsu's WA30-5/WA50-3 instructions explain that the brake pedal first moves the HST pump toward neutral through the inching valve. Further pedal movement applies the wheel brake. A travel complaint that changes with light pedal pressure therefore needs the linkage and inching action checked as well as the brakes.

It does not by itself identify a failed travel motor. The troubleshooting table distinguishes low hydraulic oil, disconnected inching linkage and insufficient oil temperature when travel is slow or lacks power.

The lift-arm FLOAT setting allows movement under outside force. It is different from a controlled lowering command. The manual's bucket positioner returns the tilt control to HOLD at the adjusted digging position; this automatic return concerns bucket attitude, rather than proving a boom-height limit has been fitted.

Canopy, cab and attachment equipment change the comparison

The four-model operating manual gives separate WA30-5 canopy and cab operating conditions. Its WA30-5 engine designation is 3D84E-3D, whereas the reference table on this page identifies a 3D84E-3B. Preserve that suffix difference when matching a service book or engine part; the model name alone does not reconcile the two editions.

The WA50-3 specification section identifies the turbocharged S3D84E-3B. A figure taken from the WA30 column cannot silently stand in for the WA50's engine or fitted mass.

The attachment list distinguishes large buckets for snow from ranch buckets and lumber-handling forks. Bucket volume is consequently not a universal material-carrying allowance. Identify the installed bucket and its application before comparing the reference's heaped capacity with the factory attachment list.

For a disabled HST machine, the manual limits towing to emergency movement over a few metres and calls for a transporter for longer travel. It distinguishes disconnecting the drive shafts from opening the HST circuit, which subsequently requires pressure-valve adjustment. Arrange recovery using the applicable procedure; selecting neutral is not the stated substitute for isolating the stopped driveline.
