Krupp 100GMT: hydraulic truck crane

Krupp's listing for the 100GMT matches a hydraulic truck crane; see the mobile cranes page.

History and service record of 100GMT

  • Krupp to Grove. CraneMarket's Krupp history says Krupp Mobilkrane pioneered the all terrain crane, took over the Gottwald hydraulic crane division in 1987, and was acquired by Grove Worldwide in 1995. It notes the Krupp range is no longer in production and that Manitowoc-authorised Grove distributors support previously built Krupp cranes. Krupp 100 GMT, CraneMarket.

Two engines, two sets of operating evidence

The RitchieSpecs reference separates the 100GMT’s upper-structure engine from its carrier engine. Its 139-hp entry describes the crane engine; the 420-hp entry describes the road carrier. A seller quoting only the smaller number has not identified the carrier’s propulsion output, and the larger number is not an additional hoisting rating.

Request the service record for each engine and identify which one was running during a demonstration. Road performance and crane operation exercise different equipment on this model. Fuel records also need their circuit identified: the published upper and carrier tank capacities are separate, rather than a choice of small or large fuel-tank option for one engine.

Check the removable counterweight and optional lifting equipment

The Krupp manufacturer guide, page 2, identifies hydraulically removable counterweight sections and marks several jib and hook-block items as optional. When pricing a machine, inventory the supplied counterweight, blocks and jib pieces against the configuration needed for the work. A maximum hook-height illustration cannot establish that the offered crane includes the illustrated lifting equipment.

The same sheet distinguishes the carrier’s Allison automatic gearbox from its MAN transfer case. It also separates the leaf-sprung front suspension from the hydropneumatic rear arrangement with axle lockouts. These distinctions give an inspector concrete assemblies to identify; a description such as automatic transmission does not describe the complete carrier driveline.

For a setup near an obstruction, inspect the independently operated horizontal and vertical outrigger movements described by Krupp. The hydraulic controls are available from each side of the chassis. Confirm that the actual support arrangement and required working sector match the crane’s own chart; the outrigger span is not the transport width.

The reference weight is unusable for transport planning

RitchieSpecs’ operating-weight entry is implausible for this five-axle truck crane. It is excluded here, together with the power-to-weight calculation that depended on it. No replacement mass is inferred from the lifting capacity, engine power or a different Krupp model.

Obtain the particular crane’s transport configuration and weight documentation before arranging haulage or checking axle loads.
