CASE 680K, 680L and 780D: refill boundaries, lift charts and component identity
680L refill quantities depend on what is serviced
The 680L operator manual separates a hydraulic-reservoir refill with a filter change from a refill without one. Those are service quantities with different boundaries. Its cooling-system entries also distinguish machines with and without a heater.
A single capacity copied into every service estimate would discard equipment and procedure details that Case printed beside the figures.
Axle entries require similar care. The rear differential has its own quantity, and the planetary quantity is stated for each side. The front-drive axle is listed separately from the two-wheel-drive arrangement.
Establish which axle is fitted and which compartment was drained before applying a capacity to it.
Extendahoe reach does not establish lifting ability
Case supplies different backhoe lift charts for the standard linkage and for Extendahoe with its dipper retracted or extended. The chart notes also distinguish the complete swing arc and tipping-limited points. The longest digging-reach number cannot replace the lift chart for a suspended load.
Match dipper position, radius and the chart's limiting condition.
Loader tables distinguish general-purpose and four-in-one buckets. Their weight and discharge geometry differ, so the bucket arrangement belongs in the comparison. The controls contents also separates hand-swing from foot-swing backhoe layouts.
Check the fitted controls before arranging an operator demonstration.

FP Diesel's October 2011 Case-engine catalogue includes 680K and 680L applications, but it asks for information from the actual engine plate before parts selection. Its instructions can require piston identification, casting details or a Cummins CPL number in addition to displacement. A shared engine-family listing is therefore a starting point for identification, not proof that every overhaul part fits every machine in this comparison.
The catalogue also distinguishes direct from indirect injection and sorts naturally aspirated and turbocharged applications separately. Determine the fitted engine arrangement before ordering. An aftermarket engine-component catalogue does not establish the loader's hydraulic setting, transport mass or backhoe lift capacity; use the corresponding machine document for those questions.
Case's operator record sheet provides spaces for the machine PIN, engine, axle and attachment identities. ConEquip's serial-location guide adds a useful warning: the ROPS plate inside the cab is not the machine VIN plate. Its older-machine locations include the frame below the left door or the area beneath the left loader lift arm.
Record the machine and engine markings together when requesting parts information, especially if the machine has received a replacement engine or a different attachment.
