Cat 320B LN, 320B S, and 322B LN specifications
320B S is a severe-ground configuration, not just another engine rating
Caterpillar identifies the 320B S by its larger, heavier undercarriage for severe underfoot conditions. Its own archived description names mountainous work and gives a 2.5 m shipping width. Those details explain why the S can carry more undercarriage without becoming a wide transport arrangement.
A 320B LN's long, narrow frame answers a different configuration question; the suffixes do not simply describe successive power levels.
Maestro is part of the B-series control description. Caterpillar lists separate boom-priority, swing-priority, fine-control and user modes for 320B S. The machine's control selection therefore belongs in an operating comparison alongside its engine and pump ratings.
Power figures alone leave out how the operator apportions response between functions. The archived listing also distinguishes reach, mass-excavation and variable-adjustable front options. A 320B S badge does not establish which boom is on a particular machine.

Caterpillar's straight-demolition-boom sheet gives 322B LN a 2.39 m track gauge and 2.99 m shipping width with 0.60 m shoes. Its L-gauge row prints 2.29 m, inconsistent with the L shipping-width and shoe columns. That internal disagreement should not overwrite the clearly identified LN column.
The earlier 2.59 m entry is not the sheet's LN gauge.
The same sheet gives the 320B LN a 1.99 m track gauge and 0.50 m standard shoes. Its roller-centre length is 3.65 m, while complete track length is 4.45 m. These are different spans.
Neither should be substituted for the other because both happen to appear under an undercarriage heading.
Front equipment changes the working envelope again. With the straight demolition boom and a 2.92 m stick, the 320B family's sheet gives 5.00 m maximum digging depth. The 322B's 6.17 m straight boom with 2.95 m stick gives 4.95 m.
These are attachment-specific alternatives to the reach-boom records below, not corrections to reach-boom depth.

The B-series maintenance supplement treats the fine-filtration element as optional equipment and gives it a separate pressure-gauge inspection. That distinction matters when a used machine's filter layout differs from another 320B. Its schedule places the gauge check every 50 service hours or weekly after the initial 500 hours.
The supplement's fitting diagrams and instructions apply to that installed circuit; a filter described in an advertisement does not establish that the optional assembly is present.
