Cracked heads on the old 336 V8, and hydraulics and fuel on the 336 excavators. An owner of a 980B with the 336 V8 overhead-cam engine looking for heads or a replacement, with a reply calling the engine a poor design that Cat offered a 3306 fit kit for, then a 336EL whose swing was weak until multi-function (a reply suspected a resolver or shuttle valve), and a 336F whose primer pump fuse blew when the aftertreatment regeneration device lit.
