Cat 993: C32B engine ratings, lift and payload

Choose the 993 front and engine rating together

The C32B-powered 993 has separate high-regulation and lower-regulation engine schedules. Cat gives each schedule several power-test standards, so the largest horsepower number is not the same measurement as the net rating beside it. Specify both.

The original figures below remain separated by emissions arrangement; the unqualified bank entries have been identified as Tier 2 equivalent. A 993K comparison does not establish that its engine installation is interchangeable with this C32B machine.

High lift trades some rated payload for truck-loading geometry. The published standard-lift rating is in US tons as well as metric tonnes; the similarly labelled high-lift number is smaller in both units. Neither figure is a bucket volume.

Cat's selection method uses the combined bucket-and-material load: heavier bucket protection leaves less allowance for material. Density and fitted ground-engaging tools matter even when two buckets have the same nominal capacity.

Cat's feature sheet describes the truck match as a loading system: standard lift with a 777, high lift also reaching the 785 application. Its pass examples assume the matching truck and payload, not a guarantee for every quarry material. Choose the bucket for penetration as well as the truck bed.

The heavy-duty rock, high-abrasion rock and coal buckets serve different material conditions; extra protection has a performance cost.

Steering and gear selection share the STIC lever, while implement control has its own arrangement. The equipment list distinguishes the standard torque converter from the optional lock-up version. Direct-drive travel figures therefore need the matching hardware.

The published hydraulic cycle is a calculated high-lift cycle, not a measured complete truck-loading cycle including reversing and travel. For service planning, the technical sheet lists hydraulic tank contents separately from the whole factory-filled system. The old 993K fuel figure beside this page also belongs to that neighbour, not to the C32B loader's fuel tank.
