John Deere 2038R specifications

The 2038R has compact-tractor hydraulics and a pedal-controlled drive

Deere's 2038R publication identifies a Yanmar diesel and hydrostatic transmission. The previous record's PowrQuad, large-farm-tractor hydraulic options and Category 2 hitch entries do not describe the published compact tractor. Those entries remain labelled below for comparison with the corrected manufacturer record; they are not equipment-selection specifications.

Direction control and mower height are different systems

The Australian product description uses Twin Touch pedals for forward and reverse. Its transmission has a common fluid reservoir with the differential and hydraulic system. The range-neutral starting condition is separate from the seat/PTO interlock.

A failure to crank should not be treated as evidence that the tractor has the mechanical shuttle listed in the earlier record.

CommandCut controls the mower deck's height with a dial and lift control. Deere describes calibration for the fitted tires and inhibition of PTO operation with the mower in its installation position. A deck-height or installation-position problem therefore deserves a different initial check from a traction complaint.

The Australian compact-tractor brochure also distinguishes eThrottle from CommandCut. eThrottle links engine speed to the Twin Touch travel pedals; CommandCut controls cutting height. A tractor demonstrating one feature has not thereby demonstrated the operation of the other. Its rear hitch is Category 1, not the larger hitch category in the rejected capture.

Use the named hydraulic measurement before sizing an attachment

The United States ordering publication separates total hydraulic flow into steering and implement supplies. Its total is not a second, larger implement circuit. The same edition identifies independent rear and mid PTO arrangements.

A pump-flow comparison cannot substitute for an implement's shaft-speed requirement.

Height-of-cut codes belong to their own diagnostic group

Deere's public TM143919 preview lists separate diagnostic groups for the engine controller, instrument cluster, height-of-cut controller and engine-interface controller. Record the reporting controller with a displayed code. A code copied from a different controller's list is insufficient to identify a failed component.

The preview also separates observable-symptom diagnostics from repair chapters and names CTM120419 for engine-component information. It establishes which publication to obtain; its contents pages do not supply an unseen test procedure or a torque specification.
