A grading tractor with two transmission choices

The 210LE's integral hitch is built into its unitized mainframe. Deere describes a grading tractor whose rear tool has hydraulic lift, down-pressure, float, tilt and pitch. A second tilt cylinder and PTO are optional, so a loader photograph alone cannot establish the rear equipment.

The box scraper is a separate attachment.

Deere offered a synchronized transmission with a hydraulic reverser and an optional powershift. Both use a torque converter. That distinction matters when comparing the shift controls or tracing a direction-change complaint.

The loader also has transmission disconnect, self-leveling, return-to-dig and float functions. They serve different parts of the loading cycle.

The brochure's base weight excludes the separately listed buckets and box blades. Hitch lift at the link ends is also different from lift behind the links. Use the coordinate that matches the implement; the larger number does not describe both positions.

PC2598 distinguishes the installed engine and electrical revision

The original 210LE parts catalog identifies both Dubuque and Torreon engine applications. It separates naturally aspirated engine arrangements from the turbocharged version, including distinct intake and oil-filter-base groups. A replacement chosen solely from the broad 4045 family can therefore miss the arrangement actually installed.

The machine identification plate is on the left loader frame near the lift-cylinder pivot. The engine plate is on the cylinder block near the fuel pump. Transmission and hydraulic-pump identifiers are recorded separately.

Photograph the applicable component plate when asking about a replacement; a replaced engine may no longer match the tractor's original configuration.

PC2598 also divides the alternator, air cleaner, backup alarm and monitor groups at serial changes. Its engine numbering and machine numbering are separate systems. The catalog's revised application ranges determine which illustrated assembly to inspect, rather than a seller's estimated model year.

Keep the complete serial characters when comparing those ranges. For example, the axle-to-transmission line illustrations change at machine serial 880054. The alternator and air-cleaner indexes change at 882701.

Those boundaries concern different assemblies; reaching the first does not imply the second assembly has changed too.
