These J loaders combine rear-wheel steering with articulation

The 304J’s stereo-steering arrangement mechanically connects rear-wheel steering to the articulated chassis. An ordinary articulation-angle comparison therefore misses part of how this loader turns. Deere also separates rear-axle oscillation from frame oscillation; the combined movement in its axle specification is not an additional steering angle.

The hydrostatic drive has travel ranges, with speed continuously adjustable within them. Its inching pedal reduces travel while allowing engine speed and hydraulic flow to remain high. During a loading demonstration, distinguish deliberate inching from a machine that loses drive under load.

The joystick direction switch and the speed-range selection perform different jobs.

A standard pin-type hydraulic coupler and the optional skid-steer-style coupler do not establish the same attachment interface. Deere lists an additional hydraulic valve for powered attachments separately from the coupler. A bucket swapping successfully does not confirm that an auger or rake has its required auxiliary control; inspect the fitted valve and connections as well.

The 324J document changes the emissions designation, not the battery-system voltage

The opened 304J publication identifies EPA Tier 3, while the 324J brochure specifies Interim Tier 4 and European Stage IIIB. Both technical sheets identify the turbocharged PowerTech engine family. Those designations establish different certified editions; they do not establish that every exhaust component can be transferred between the loaders.

Match the engine label before choosing emissions-related parts.

The 324J electrical schedule specifies a twelve-volt system. Its brochure describes the batteries as connected in parallel, so the presence of multiple batteries does not justify calling the machine twenty-four volt. An electrical diagnosis should begin with the actual circuit designation, not the battery count.

Deere’s bucket and fork drawings also answer different clearance questions. The fork assembly’s overall length is separate from the bucket-on-ground length. Bucket dump clearance is measured at a stated dump angle; it is neither hinge-pin height nor horizontal dump reach.

For loading a truck, compare the bucket-clearance drawing with the body edge. For pallet work, use the fork diagram and its load-centre conditions. The brochure lists different tipping loads for straight and full-turn positions, so neither is a universal payload rating.
