John Deere 317G, 325G, and 331G specifications
Specify the 317G's controls and track stance
The 317G brochure separates standard ISO-pattern electrohydraulic controls from the optional joystick performance package. That package adds switchable ISO-H patterns, creeper operation, boom and bucket speed settings, adjustable propel settings and attachment controls. A joystick-equipped machine does not automatically have every programmable function.
Establish which package is fitted before treating a slow control setting as a hydraulic defect.
Track width is not the whole machine width. Deere's equipment schedule lists both ordinary and narrow machine stances with the narrower tracks, plus a wider-track alternative. Measure the actual outside width when access is tight.
The brochure also identifies bucket-specific dump heights and breakout figures. A foundry-bucket measurement should not be combined with a construction-bucket result and presented as one arrangement.

The 325G and 331G do not share every option
In Deere's larger G-Series brochure, two-speed travel is standard on the 331G and optional on the 325G. Check the machine's drive equipment before relying on the higher transport speed. The brochure distinguishes the joystick performance package from the boom performance package available on the larger models.
Boom automation adds functions such as return-to-dig, return-to-carry, height kickout and self-leveling in both directions; those are not established merely by ISO controls.
Cooling hardware differs as well. Deere identifies a V-plenum arrangement for the 325G and Tri-Cool for the 331G. Inspect the appropriate cooling layout when a loader has spent long periods on auxiliary-hydraulic work.
The hydraulic hoses and attachment-control wiring run within the boom for protection, so include that routing when examining attachment fit and damage.
A 333G SmartGrade or anti-vibration-undercarriage feature in the same brochure is not automatically a 331G option. Deere limits the latter system to specified 333G track and grade-control combinations. Compare the column for the machine being bought, including the footnotes, before carrying a family-wide claim into a purchase decision.

The 317G, 325G and 331G are vertical-lift compact track loaders with different frames, hydraulic equipment and control packages. Compare the fitted stance, travel-speed option, cooling layout and actual boom/joystick functions. Manufacturer brochure examples below retain their equipment and edition limits alongside the earlier reference figures.
