John Deere 410G to 710K specifications
Counterweights, control packages and loader geometry
The 410G weight entries need particular care. Deere's G-Series schedule separates the base machine, equipment additions and counterweights. The small counterweight figures are not complete backhoe weights.
A cab, mechanical-front-wheel drive and extending dipperstick all add mass; the dipperstick's addition excludes its required counterweight. The manufacturer's typical equipped example includes that ballast. Use that configuration when interpreting the comparison, then weigh the actual transport load with its buckets.
Loader reach is another easy trap. Deere measures the front bucket at full height and a specified dump angle. That is a different dimension from the rear bucket's reach measured from its swing pivot or rear axle.
The 710G front-loader illustration puts its reach in inches. A feet label would describe an entirely different machine. Its published loading dimensions also assume the identified bucket, so a replacement bucket changes the comparison.

Its armrest controls remain usable with the seat turned toward work beside the machine. The small auxiliary joystick can operate the loader and backhoe together without another seat rotation.
Deere also describes selectable hydraulic response speeds and an attachment-flow adjustment. Those functions identify the TMC package; an ordinary 410J badge alone does not establish them.
The J-Series tool-carrier arrangement adds electrically controlled parallel lift and preset boom positions. Check the actual loader arrangement before comparing fork handling: a TMC-equipped backhoe and the tool-carrier option are related choices, not interchangeable descriptions of every J machine.
Deere J-Series brochure, TMC and tool-carrier arrangementsThe K generation has another important split. The 410K lists manual backhoe levers as standard and pilot controls as an option; the 410K TC has electrohydraulic TMC controls. The 710K instead lists pattern-select pilot controls as standard.
Its transmission also differs: Deere specifies four PowerShift speeds for the 710K, while the 410K schedule provides five. These distinctions matter during a demonstration. Check the selected pattern, fitted controls and transmission against the particular model, then compare response with its actual attachment.
A family-wide equipment description cannot establish what a used unit carries.

The earlier 410K bore and stroke entries are unverified as engine dimensions. The K-Series brochure places a 29.29 in stroke in the loader bucket cylinder schedule; it does not establish the earlier 29.3 in entry as an engine stroke. Identify the installed engine before applying an engine-dimension figure.

The 410G through 710K comparison covers Deere backhoes with different control packages, loader buckets and transmission arrangements. G-Series counterweights must not be read as whole-machine weights. Use each manufacturer configuration for reach and transport planning; original reference entries and corrected readings remain identified below.
