History and service record of 700, 750, and 1050

  • The 1050 name. Compact Equipment's history of 75 years of Deere dozers says John Deere introduced its largest dozer ever in 2001 with the roll-out of the 1050C, and in 2016 added factory-integrated 3D grade control, SmartGrade, on the 700K. John Deere commemorates 75 years of dozer innovation, Compact Equipment.
  • Earlier 700J owners. On Heavy Equipment Forums an operator of an earlier 700J said it was better balanced than a Cat D6K and praised the hydraulic system that lets the blade be angled and leveled at the same time. John Deere 700J, Heavy Equipment Forums.
  • Hauling size. A poster asking for owner experience with the 700 J or K series said the Deere 700 is the largest machine he can haul on his current truck and has a six-way blade. Opinions and reviews on Deere 700 series dozers, Heavy Equipment Forums.
  • 75 years of Deere dozers. Equipment Journal traces Deere's dozer business to the MC dozer that entered production in Dubuque, Iowa in 1949, and says Deere began adding a commemorative badge to dozers built for the rest of 2024 and 2025 to mark 75 years. Celebrating 75 years of John Deere dozers, Equipment Journal.
  • Hydrostatic drive since 1976. By 1976 Deere was the first North American maker to use a dual-path hydrostatic drive on its dozers; the 450H, 550H and 650H brought it back in 1999, and it runs through the whole lineup today, with the 1050C arriving two years later as Deere's largest dozer. Celebrating 75 years of John Deere dozers, Equipment Journal.
  • What preceded the P-Tier 700 and 750. MachineFinder's write-up of the 700L and 750L says they made 135 and 175 horsepower from a six-cylinder 6.8-liter engine, offered a 161-inch blade, extended hydraulic and hydrostatic oil intervals to 4,000 hours and added slope control that holds blade angle without a laser or GPS. Featuring the New 700L and 750L Crawler Dozers, MachineFinder.
  • Service access on the L series. The same article says the hinged engine side shields swing wide and the front grille tilts forward, giving access to dipsticks, fill tubes, batteries, the master electrical shutoff and the engine, transmission and hydraulic filters. Featuring the New 700L and 750L Crawler Dozers, MachineFinder.
  • The first all-hydraulic dozer. Deere's 440 crawler of 1958 is described as its first all-yellow machine built for industrial work and the industry's first all-hydraulic bulldozer with a six-way power-angle-tilt blade. Celebrating 75 years of John Deere dozers, Equipment Journal.
