Dressta TD8H: direct-drive option, PAT blade and W3C winch
TD-8H DD identifies a different connection to the transmission
Dressta's September1999 product bulletin distinguishes torque-converter powershift drive from direct-drive powershift. It specifically names TD-8H DD as the optional direct-drive arrangement. The DD suffix does not mean a hydrostatic transmission.
Dressta describes a direct connection between engine and powershift transmission, with a metal plate absorbing engine shock.
The same bulletin identifies the dozer transmission as a countershaft design. Determine which drive arrangement is installed before comparing clutch or converter work on two used TD-8H machines. A parts invoice mentioning a transmission alone leaves the engine-to-transmission connection unresolved.
The inside C-frame carries the hydraulic angle-and-tilt blade
The TD-8H is included among the small dozers supplied with Dressta's hydraulically controlled six-way blade. Its push structure sits inside the track frames. This is the PAT arrangement: blade lift, angle and tilt are controlled from the seat.
The bulletin separately describes outside push-beam blades on larger machines; that illustration is not the TD-8H's standard front structure.
Blade pitch is a separate function in Dressta's terminology. Its summary assigns the TD-8H inside C-frame lift, tilt and angle, while pitch entries name other machines. Do not add hydraulic pitch to this dozer's equipment description merely because its blade tilts.
Inspect the actual connections on the blade and C-frame when identifying movement or wear.
The small H-Series track frames use a rigid four-point mounting in this publication. They do not independently oscillate in the way described for the larger equalizer-bar arrangement. Dressta lists square-corner shoes as standard and mud-relief or swamp shoes as choices.
Shoe shape and installed width deserve recording alongside the TD-8H designation when evaluating underfoot suitability.

Allied's dated application chart places TD-8H with TD-8M in the W3C column. Its line-pull and line-speed entries change between a bare drum and a full drum. The highest bare-drum pull is not a constant pull throughout the cable's travel, and it is not a lifting rating for the entire tractor.
The chart also separates winch weight without cable from the fairlead, drawbar and integral arch. Identify those installed pieces before using a winch-equipped dozer's shipping estimate. A rear winch changes the equipment list beyond the drum alone.
Allied describes a spring-applied oil brake synchronized with a hydraulically applied clutch, and lists freespool as standard on W3C. Confirm those controls against the winch's own identification and operating instructions. The dozer model establishes an application column, not the condition or configuration of a replacement winch fitted later.
