Identify the density fault before ordering a load bar

A documented 2018 repair discussion concerns a 4910 with serial HL00733. The mechanic reported missing pressure readings and codes that changed sides when the load-bar sensor wiring was exchanged. Harness continuity alone had not explained the fault.

That is a useful diagnostic distinction between the wiring path and the component connected to it.

The discussion did not establish a successful final repair. Its quoted $4,000 arm price was one contemporary report, not a current parts quotation. Replies proposed different load-cell types and resistance values without identifying the installed sensor.

Do not apply those suggested readings as Hesston specifications. Obtain the correct sensor identification and test information before condemning an expensive assembly.

Retrofit moisture sensors have their own mounting geometry

Harvest Tec's Model 700 installation manual groups the 4910 with the 4900 for star-wheel mounting. The wheels sit behind the knotters, under the walkway, near the horizontal channels supporting the twine boxes. That location differs from several other baler groups illustrated in the book.

The end-of-bale installation uses a Hesston-specific mount in addition to the sensor bracket. Its sensor observes needle position; it is not the load-bar pressure sensor from the repair account. When inspecting a retrofitted baler, distinguish the moisture wheels, needle sensor and original density controls.

Record the installed kit and wiring before interpreting a monitor warning.

Choose twine for the actual crop and knotter system

New Holland's baling-twine guide classifies the 4910 as a standard-density large square baler with six double knotters. Its 4910 row recommends different twine selections for forage and straw or cereal bales. The guide also links strength choice to crop springiness and intended bale weight.

A nominal bale cross-section alone does not identify suitable twine.

For the base baler, AGCO lists operator manual 700716446E for serials 101–743 and HK91101–HK91220, also covering the export 4990. Match that scope to the identification plate; an accessory installation manual does not replace the baler's operating instructions.
