Komatsu SK04J-2 and SK05J-2: narrow access and attachment choices

SK04J-2 narrow access and SK05J-2 fork work

The SK04J-2's narrow arrangement includes both the wheels and bucket. Komatsu's French booklet describes a 920 mm package using the narrower tires and matching bucket; fitting only the tires leaves the wider bucket as the obstruction. Its standard wheel and bucket widths are different.

Measure the attachment that will actually pass through the opening.

The same booklet specifies a smaller engine and bucket than the SK05J-2. Read the engine-rating standard with the power figure: maximum output, SAE net output and DIN output occupy separate rows. The SK04 EC row contains an inconsistent horsepower pairing, so it cannot establish that the smaller loader has the SK05's output.

Komatsu pairs the SK04 with the E22 backhoe. That attachment's mass, breakout force and bucket selection describe the backhoe assembly, not a new loader payload. The light-material backhoe bucket also carries a material-density restriction.

An advertisement showing a backhoe therefore needs that attachment's identity as well as the loader name.

The SK04's hydraulic reservoir and engine-oil quantity are separate from the chain compartments. The chain refill is printed for both sides. Treating the combined chain quantity as a hydraulic refill would mix unrelated compartments.

The E26 and fork figures belong to the larger loader

The SK05J-2 booklet names the E26 backhoe instead of the E22. Its heavier attachment and larger digging-force figure cannot be borrowed for the SK04. Komatsu lists several E26 bucket widths; the widest light-material choice is not permission to dig dense material with the same load.

Fork capacity has its own published row. The SK05's bucket operating load is larger, while fork lift height and forward reach describe a different load position. A bucket rating is insufficient for deciding whether a pallet can be carried.

Obtain the installed fork assembly's rating and load conditions.

Travel uses hydrostatic drive and oil-bathed chains to the wheels. The implement pump supplies the working circuit. The brochure's description of servo controls does not turn implement-pump flow into a travel-pump specification.

The seat sensor and safety bar form part of the control interlock; they should remain functional. Komatsu also distinguishes the rear service door from the tilting cab: routine engine access and access to transmission or hydraulic components are different inspection tasks.
