Komatsu SK714-5 and SK820-5: engine, fork loads and Super Flow options
SK714-5 separates engine output, lifting force and tipping load
The original Komatsu SK714-5 specification prints separate gross and net engine outputs. Removing the decimal mark makes a compact loader appear to have several hundred horsepower. The manufacturer table also identifies a naturally aspirated engine, whereas the larger SK820 publication specifies a turbocharged unit.
They should not share an unqualified engine description.
The SK714 brochure separates operating capacity, tipping load and maximum lifting force. These are different measurements with different units. The earlier “tipping angle” label does not describe the manufacturer's load entry, and a force in decanewtons cannot simply be labeled as pounds.
Forks have their own operating-capacity, reach and loading-height rows. For pallet work, those are the relevant figures rather than the bucket's operating load. The height and reach entries are metric dimensions; values reduced to a fraction of a foot by an earlier conversion are not usable clearance figures.

SK820-5 distinguishes travel-speed control from Super Flow
The SK820 booklet describes a vertical-lift arm and optional Slow Speed Control. SSC lets an operator select a creeping travel rate for work such as planing. It is separate from the Super Flow option, which changes the attachment circuit's available oil flow.
Selecting a slower ground speed does not install the high-flow hardware.
Both ordinary and Super Flow configurations have their own flow entries, while the published working-pressure limit stays the same within this SK820 edition. The reference column headed SK820-5SF should therefore be checked against its fitted package. The manufacturer book is headed SK820-5 and shows what is standard and what is optional; the suffix in a seller's title is not an equipment inspection.
Komatsu also separates the combined chain-compartment refill from engine oil and working hydraulics. The two chain compartments have individual quantities. Do not double the combined amount by treating it as the volume of each side.
The larger loader's bucket and pallet-fork limits remain distinct, as on the SK714, but the limits themselves differ. Its specified engine speed and torque-speed point differ too. Use the complete SK820 engine suffix when checking an engine replacement instead of assuming every four-cylinder Komatsu compact loader uses the same parts.
