Short answer

Komatsu identifies the WA30-1 as an articulated mini wheel loader. The retained RitchieSpecs backhoe classification and rear-attachment quantities need a matching configuration document before use.

Identify the articulated WA30 before using a backhoe figure

Komatsu's own museum identifies the WA30-1 as a mini wheel loader with articulated steering. It distinguishes this development from the earlier rigid-frame SK04 and SK07 skid-steer loaders. That matters when identifying a used machine: a WA30 badge does not describe skid steering, and the manufacturer's account does not identify a rear digging attachment.

Look for the central frame joint and the actual equipment on the machine before choosing a loader or backhoe reference. The historical account establishes the machine family; it is not an attachment load chart.

The WA30-1 chassis shop manual SEBM0362A01 covers serial numbers 1001 and above and illustrates the 2D94-2 engine. Its general section separates the standard machine from an optional ROPS-cabin configuration. Dimensions and weights in those columns therefore describe different fitted equipment.

A canopy photograph cannot establish the cab version's transport height, and the presence of a cab should not be inferred from an undifferentiated operating-weight entry.

The same manual distinguishes standard foot and parking brakes from optional wheel-brake equipment. A parts order or brake diagnosis needs that distinction recorded. Its identification drawings locate chassis, engine, steering-valve and fuel-injection numbers separately; the chassis plate alone does not identify every replacement component.

The oil table also separates complete system volume, including piping, from the amount added during a normal oil change. Those headings must accompany any capacity copied into a service worksheet; filling to the larger system figure is not the stated routine refill procedure.

Why the retained reference tables disagree

RitchieSpecs places WA30-1 in its loader-backhoe catalogue and supplies rear digging measurements. Those entries are retained below as that reference's configuration record, including its original units. The opened Komatsu documents do not establish which rear attachment, if any, those figures describe.

Do not treat the catalogue classification as proof that a particular WA30-1 includes that attachment. The reference also labels an operating weight as two-wheel drive; that label needs a matching configuration document before it becomes a transport weight for the actual machine.

Later WA30-5/WA50-3 operating instructions describe HST travel and brake-linked inching. That later document is useful when distinguishing generations, but it does not establish the WA30-1's controls. In particular, the later brake pedal's effect on an HST pump is not a diagnosis for the earlier machine's planetary-transmission reference record.
