Kubota KX080-5 specifications
What changes when moving from a KX080-4 to the KX080-5
Kubota introduced the KX080-5 as the KX080-4 replacement with changes to the cab, starting controls and attachment management. An older KX080 service discussion can help frame an inspection, but it cannot establish the behavior of the new passcode system, screen menus or programmed engine-stop function. Demonstrate those features on the actual offered machine.
Auto idle and engine stop do different jobs
The launch announcement separates an idle-speed reduction after the controls remain neutral from a programmable shutdown after a longer idle period. A machine slowing its engine and a machine stopping its engine are consequently different demonstrations. Have the operator show which function is enabled before treating the response as an intermittent fault.
The announcement also describes automatic high-to-low travel shifting according to traction demand and terrain. A downshift while dozing is not, by itself, evidence that the high-speed switch failed. Compare its behavior with the selected operating conditions.

Kubota's launch equipment includes keypad starting, an adjustable seat and independently adjustable joystick consoles. Ask for an authorized start demonstration and position the consoles for the intended operator. The screen's jog dial also accesses auxiliary-flow adjustment and third-line return activation; check the intended attachment setting while the machine is available.
Kubota launch announcement: keypad, console adjustment and auxiliary controlsKeep the weight document tied to its equipment condition
Kubota's later comparison sheet specifies a cab machine with a straight blade and rubber tracks. Its weight is not an angle-blade or steel-track declaration. The older configuration figures remain below as dated source records; they must not be silently substituted into the later comparison's equipment condition.
The comparison publishes separate auxiliary flows. Those are service-port figures, distinct from total pump delivery. Match the proposed tool to its appropriate circuit and return requirements instead of adding the two port figures and assuming that sum is continuously available to one attachment.

The construction catalogue pairs the KX080-5 wide steel tracks with a blade-extension kit so the blade matches the track width. It separately lists an additional counterweight kit for thumb applications with heavy attachments or large loads. Inspect those fitted components when assessing a modified machine; the base model name cannot confirm either conversion.
