Mitsubishi MG530 and MG730: engine generations, serial numbers and implements

MG530 and MG730 engine parts depend on the production series

Mitsubishi's January2009 MG530 chassis catalogue is paired with a separate 6D24-T engine volume. Its applicability starts at different chassis numbers for MHI and MPM production. The engine book starts at its own engine number.

Neither boundary can be established from the grader's painted MG530 name alone.

The MG730 documents make the generation difference explicit. The March2010 engine catalogue lists both a 6D22-T application and a later 6D24-T application, with separate engine model codes and beginning numbers. The newer chassis cover refers to the 6D24-T volume.

A 6D22-T entry in an older specification is therefore not a reason to order that engine's internal parts for every MG730.

Keep the complete chassis prefix when recording the machine. The MG530 catalogue separates 4GA and T4GA production columns; MG730 uses 8G0 and T8G0. Dropping the prefix would lose the column needed to follow an assembly's serial applicability.

The engine number stamped on the cylinder block supplies another identification point when the engine has been replaced.

A front blade, scarifier and rear ripper are separate installations

The MG530 optional-parts volume separates its mid-mounted scarifier, rear ripper and heavy-duty front blade. Each has its own linkage and cylinder groups. Its mouldboard choices also include different lengths and plate thicknesses.

Seeing one auxiliary attachment on a sales photograph does not identify the other attachment groups or their connecting hardware.

The February2003 MG730 option catalogue has a different scope: its rear-ripper section includes a double pilot check valve and a separate cylinder assembly. That book also distinguishes older and newer air-conditioning arrangements. An illustrated cab does not identify the compressor and hose set without following the relevant option and serial references.

Read a replacement code before mixing assemblies

The MG530 instructions distinguish a mutually interchangeable replacement from a one-way replacement. They also identify replacements that require companion parts. A current part number beside an older number is not always permission to fit either item independently.

Follow the combination reference when it is marked in that column.

MG730's chassis catalogue additionally separates the differential-lock air system from the wheel-brake and transmission groups. Those systems share the machine but have different parts diagrams. Identify whether a reported air fault concerns brake supply, the differential-lock circuit or an optional installation before treating every pneumatic connection as the same assembly.
