John Deere 450K to 850K specifications

Identify the small K-Series dozer before comparing engine or blade figures

The 450K belongs with the smaller K-Series dozers in Deere's Final Tier 4 brochure, not with the larger engine copied into the earlier comparison. Its manufacturer engine entry names the PWS 4045. The corrected 450K column below follows that brochure's standard PAT configuration, with separate notes where the LGP or Maximum Life undercarriage changes the specification.

On the small K-Series, electrohydraulic blade controls are an option that also enables a grade-control-ready arrangement. That does not establish that a used dozer already includes the surveying components or an operating grade-control system. Confirm the installed equipment rather than inferring it from an EH control lever.

The same publication describes a blade-vibration function for PAT blades and separates Eco mode from ordinary engine-speed selection. Eco mode adjusts engine and transmission behavior in response to load. These are different functions to demonstrate during an inspection; a working throttle does not show that either optional blade controls or a particular management setting is present.

The larger K brochure distinguishes blade mounting arrangements

The 700K/750K/850K publication separately describes PAT blades and outside-mounted straight or semi-U equipment. The PAT C-frame has a ball-and-socket joint, while the outside-mount arrangement uses push beams and pitch-adjustment provisions. Comparing blade capacities without identifying that mounting arrangement combines equipment intended for different working tasks.

Its table also separates the 850K XLT PAT rating from the outside-blade versions and other PAT packages. The biggest engine figure at the top of a search result cannot identify all those combinations. Keep the complete suffix and blade type with any proposed comparison.

This larger-family publication describes an earlier engine edition than the retained PVS/PSS entries. Its 700K power entry differs from the later government-sales reference. That is a reason to match the applicable publication, rather than silently force every K-badged machine onto one engine table.

The December 2017 government-sales sheet provides another dated comparison: it lists separate base weights and track-contact lengths for the small and large dozers. These are historical specified packages, not current sale offers. They confirm that the inherited identical 450K/850K engine and weight entries cannot be used as a valid model comparison.
