650J LGP: separate the blade system from the hydrostatic drivetrain

Deere's March 2010 J-Series brochure describes two independently powered tracks, each using a variable-displacement pump and two-speed motor. The blade circuit is a separate open-centre gear-pump system. Its listed implement flow therefore does not describe all oil moving through the hydrostatic drivetrain.

A slow blade and weak travel require different observations, even if they occur on the same dozer.

The decelerator can be configured to slow both travel and engine speed, or travel alone. Total Machine Control also changes the machine's operating response. During an inspection, establish the selected control settings before interpreting a different pedal response as a fault.

The LGP undercarriage combines a wider gauge and shoes with a longer ground-contact length than the LT. Deere also lists Standard and Maximum Life undercarriages separately. Their ground-pressure entries differ, so do not transfer a standard-undercarriage figure to every LGP offered for sale.

The optional cab, winch, ripper and guards add further weight; the published base machine is not an inventory of everything installed on an auction unit.

750C WT: a wide-track machine still needs its blade identified

The 750C sheet gives the WT different weights for a straight blade and a high-production Semi-U blade. Its LGP row instead describes an all-hydraulic PAT arrangement. A WT designation alone does not mean the blade angles hydraulically.

Check the fitted blade and its controls before comparing capacities with the six-way blade on a 650J.

WT and LT share the listed track gauge and ground-contact length, but the WT uses wider shoes. The LGP has a wider gauge and longer ground contact. These distinctions explain why swapping an LT width, a WT shoe size and an LGP pressure into one description creates a machine that the brochure never specified.

Service compartments differ too. Deere separates the hydraulic reservoir from the hydrostatic-transmission reservoir and gives two reduction-stage refill quantities for each final drive. Treating one of those stage quantities as the entire drivetrain fill would omit other compartments.

Use the compartment drawing and the matching manual when planning a drain-and-refill job.
