Separate the B-Series loaders from the dozer columns

The 655B and 755B are bucket-equipped crawler loaders in Deere's original brochures. This historical comparison also contains 750B and 750C dozer columns. Their inclusion does not make a loader bucket equivalent to a dozer blade. Begin a purchase comparison with the attachment and chassis identity, then use only the matching column's operating information.

A 655B bucket choice changes more than capacity

The 655B brochure gives the standard and wide-track general-purpose arrangements the same heaped capacity, but different widths, breakout forces and operating weights. Its multipurpose bucket has the same heaped figure again, yet a lower struck capacity and lower tipping load. Selecting only by the heaped-capacity row would hide those differences.

The tipping-load heading includes a drawbar, four counterweights and ROPS. The adjustment table then treats a cab, bucket teeth, air conditioning and ripper configuration separately. A counterweight change affects both operating weight and tipping load; it is not simply an accessory that can be ignored because the engine specification stays the same.

The 755B's wider bucket is a separate package

The 755B wide-track general-purpose bucket has a greater heaped capacity than its standard bucket. The multipurpose bucket moves the comparison in the other direction, with lower heaped capacity but substantially greater attachment weight. Its corresponding operating weight is therefore not the standard loader's published base figure.

Deere also distinguishes carrier rollers from the six-roller track frame. The old reference's single-roller entry describes the carrier count, rather than establishing that the machine travels on only one track roller per side. The corrected labels and quantities keep those two components separate.

Ground clearance is another unit distinction: the manufacturer gives it in inches, not the feet printed in the inherited transcription. Compare the corrected clearance with an obstacle height; a cab-height figure and an undercarriage-clearance figure answer different access questions.

For repair documentation, Deere's TM1478 identifies itself as the repair volume and points to TM1333 for operation and testing. It also refers engine work to separate component manuals. A loader repair-manual title alone does not supply the correct diagnostic test or engine procedure for every column in this mixed comparison.
