Komatsu D475A-5SD and D575A-3SD configurations

Older D475A-5SD: seven rollers and a taller blade

The earlier Super Dozer brochure describes a seven-roller track frame and the SDA engine, which distinguishes it from the later Tier 2 arrangement. Its large blade is paired with a counterweight in the operating-weight specification. That equipped figure is separate from the tractor-only weight.

A comparison that combines the lighter tractor weight with the complete dozer's ground pressure describes neither published configuration.

The older machine's CLSS hydraulic description also separates lift, tilt and pitch. Tilt raises one side of the cutting edge; pitch changes the digging angle. Its blade-lift valve includes float, while the ripper is optional equipment with its own attachment conditions.

Establish the actual blade and rear equipment before choosing specifications for a used unit.

Tier 2 Super Dozer: engine and undercarriage changes

The Tier 2 Super Dozer publication identifies the SAA12V140E-3 engine and an eight-roller undercarriage. Those details explain why its record should not silently inherit the older SD's engine code or roller count. Its dual-tilt front also has a different blade-height schedule.

Keep the publication edition attached to the dimension.

Komatsu's K-bogie description uses resilient roller mounting to follow uneven ground. The powertrain adds automatic torque-converter lockup for long pushes, while clutch engagement is electronically modulated. Preset forward/reverse patterns and automatic downshifting serve different purposes: the first chooses the return gear, while the latter responds to load.

A control-panel photograph can distinguish the selected operating pattern from a complaint about an unexpected gear change.

D575A-3SD: transport planning starts with equipment weight

The D575A-3 Super Dozer's brochure lists tractor weight and complete operating weight separately. Its full configuration adds the Super Dozer blade, counterweight, steel cab and ROPS. The smaller tractor figure must not be used as the ready-to-work machine's weight.

The attachment table separately gives the blade assembly's weight, which is useful when planning component transport.

The D575 uses a multi-chamber gear hydraulic pump, unlike the D475 Super Dozer's piston-pump system. Its REU undercarriage uses X-shaped bogies and rubber cushioning. The brochure also describes a semi-automatic blade repositioner and separate power-pitch control.

Hydraulic flow, blade geometry and these control functions make the larger machine a distinct arrangement, not merely a D475 with a higher engine rating.
