Komatsu D85EX/PX-15E0: fan power, blades and regional packages

Fan condition and mounted equipment explain different D85 figures

Komatsu's CEN00052-04 brochure gives a lower net engine output when the radiator fan runs at maximum speed. That footnote describes engine power under a cooling load; it is not a horsepower rating for the fan itself. Keep the condition with the figure when comparing specifications.

The operating-weight notes also describe different assemblies. The EX figure includes a semi-U blade and multishank ripper, while the PX figure uses a straight-tilt blade. They are not two otherwise identical bare tractors.

Photograph the rear equipment as well as the blade before comparing a transport quotation with either weight.

The CEN refill list gives each final drive its own quantity. Blade hydraulics have another entry, and ripper installation adds fluid. A single undifferentiated “hydraulic capacity” loses the equipment boundary.

Identify which circuit is being serviced before treating a capacity as a refill instruction.

The European D85-15 brochure describes another equipment package

The September2010 European brochure lists a wider standard EX shoe than the CEN sheet. Its PX retains the wider, longer undercarriage arrangement. Neither the suffix nor a photograph of the cab establishes which shoe set is fitted.

Measure the actual shoes when checking clearance or comparing a ground-pressure claim.

Blade identification matters too. Europe's EX options include straight, semi-U, U and mechanical-angle power-tilt arrangements. On the MAPT blade, the angle changes mechanically, while lift and tilt operate from the seat.

An angled blade in a sales photograph therefore does not establish hydraulic angle control.

The European specification includes blade hydraulics with the extra capacity for an optional ripper. That differs in scope from the CEN blade-only refill plus its separately listed ripper addition. Preserve the document's equipment description when selecting a fluid quantity.

Europe's equipment list also names air conditioning and gull-wing covers as standard, whereas the CEN list offers those separately. Confirm the installed package instead of transferring either regional list to every D85EX or D85PX.
