Komatsu PC300-6 through PC350LC-6 equipment choices
MIGHTY, HD and EXCEL describe different equipment choices
Komatsu's application handbook separates the MIGHTY construction package from the HD undercarriage package. For the PC350 MIGHTY, it identifies a strengthened boom, larger arm sections and full roller guarding. Those changes address loads on the front and chassis during demanding work.
The suffix is more informative than comparing engine horsepower alone.
The PC300HD-6 uses undercarriage components from the larger PC400-6. The handbook contrasts that arrangement with the simpler EXCEL and Custom machines, aimed at straightforward operation and maintenance. Its variable-gauge transport discussion specifically identifies the PC400HD; it should not be used to promise retractable tracks on every PC300HD.
Check which package the serial plate and fitted frame actually establish.

The early PC300/350-6 shop manual describes a swing-priority switch that changes the matching of boom raise and upper-structure rotation. Its load-sensing selector changes the flow division. A different boom-and-swing response can therefore reflect a selected control function, not simply weak pump output.
The same manual distinguishes two variable-displacement main pumps from the separate gear control pump. It also separates an operator-selected swing lock from the automatic holding brake. Record the work mode, warning display and affected movement when describing a fault.
Those details distinguish a control problem from a complaint about the excavator's maximum digging envelope.

The later operating manual describes the left-lever button as either power-max or swift slow-down, according to the selected function. Power-max ends automatically after its timed interval, even if the button remains pressed. Slow-down instead lasts while the operator holds the button.
A machine that stops boosting is not necessarily losing hydraulic power.
The manual also distinguishes the selected travel-speed lamp from the travel speed under load. Automatic downshifting can leave the higher-speed lamp illuminated. Its Active mode is another separate selection: the base work-mode display does not change when Active mode is enabled.
